When I helped judge Goodwill’s Rock the Runway fashion show in March, I had the chance to meet several people who have graced these pages.(tncms-asset)9e430a0a-b9a0-5dcd-be9b-6850039f265c0 —(/tncms-asset)

Cory Phillips, project manager for Crumley Roberts’ community outreach initiatives, was one of the other judges. Turns out he’s also the main guy we quoted in the January article about F3 Greensboro, a free, participant-led workout group open to all men. F3 stands for “Fitness, Fellowship and Faith.”(tncms-asset)872ba9f2-e791-5b2c-82c6-b6a6f606dd7f1 —(/tncms-asset)

I also got to meet one of the overcomers we featured in the January issue — Jason Norris, Goodwill’s Jobs on the Outside Graduate of the Year and Rookie of the Year award winner. He spent most of a decade behind bars and today helps those with a similar past secure work.(tncms-asset)09907643-d003-5969-9451-0254ba553a992 —(/tncms-asset)

And I said hello to Rock the Runway alum Brian Atkins — the 2016 winning designer, who was featured in our March issue.

Thanks to the 1808 stories, I felt like I already knew these folks when we met.

This month, we introduce you to some makers and shakers — and tell you about many of the resources the city has to offer entrepreneurs.

In honor of Mother’s Day, we’ll also introduce you to a doula, who supports families during pregnancy, labor and childbirth.
