A man sporting sunglasses, a gray hat and a briefcase walked into the Planters National Bank & Trust Co. branch at Adams Farm Shopping Center Tuesday and asked about a loan.

He got one in less than 10 minutes - in a duffel bag.Now police want it back - and they've tacked on a heavy penalty.

The man robbed the bank branch on High Point Road and Mackay Road just before 1 p.m., when the bank was empty of customers.

Police don't know how much money he took, said Detective Frank Wilkins of the Guilford County Sheriff's Department, who is investigating along with the FBI.

``He mentioned something about blowing up the place if they didn't cooperate,' Wilkins said. ``He insinuated he had someone outside to help him.'

Wilkins said he didn't know whether the robbery was recorded on closed-circuit video.

Police are looking for a older-model light blue Chevy Impala that was parked behind the shopping center because it disappeared about the time he did, Wilkins said.
