Cross-country skiing, winter nature and the American Indian will be the focus of a winter adventure study trip sponsored by the Piedmont Environmental Center Feb. 16, 17 and 18.
The trip, designed to provide an unusual winter experience, will be a cross country ski / backpack into Virginia's Mount Rodgers Recreation area for a weekend on skis with naturalists and Eustace Conway, a Native American culturalist.During the trip, participants will see dramatic demonstrations on basic survival techniques, animal tracking and American Indian lifestyles and philosophy.
No previous skiing experience is required, and the cost of the trip is $75 for members and $80 for nonmembers. The cost includes ski equipment, instruction, guides, food and basic shelter. An alternate program is planned in case of bad weather.
