Is actor Andrew Shue from Fox's ``Melrose Place' related to actress Elisabeth Shue (``Call to Glory,' ``Karate Kid')?

Yes, they are brother and sister. Andrew Shue got into acting by a rather circuitous route. After graduating from Dartmouth College (as a history major) he went to Zimbabwe to play professional soccer for a team called the Bulawayo Highlanders. While there, he produced a documentary on his experiences in Africa. After returning to the United States, he entered acting schools in New York. ``Melrose Place' marks his television debut, but he can be seen in the films ``Cocktail,' ``Adventures in Babysitting' and ``The Karate Kid,' all three of which also featured his sister. When did ``Barney Miller' first begin and when did it end?

This Hal Linden series officially premiered on ABC in January, 1975, although an unsold pilot of the series was telecast the previous summer on ABC. It ended in September, 1982.
