Rebecca Speas, a 2008 Western Guilford High graduate, appears Wednesday, Jan. 7, on “Jeopardy.”
The show, which airs at 7:30 p.m. on CBS (WFMY 2), was recorded in November, Speas said.
“I was one of those kids who grew up watching ‘Jeopardy,’” so being a contestant was “very surreal,” she said.
She promises to bring Southern charm to the competition in her "Hometown Howdy" here.
She’s not allowed to reveal how she fared on the show.
Speas, who graduated from Wake Forest University with a double major in theater and history, lives in the Washington area and works in the theater industry and at a book store.
She won’t be able to watch tonight’s show until later because she’ll be in a technical rehearsal for Shakespeare’s “Julius Ceasar” with the Rude Mechanicals in Greenbelt, Md.

She said family and friends plan gatherings to watch the episode and will DVR the show for her.
Speas took the online “Jeopardy” test last January and had an audition last spring.
