Inside Scoop: Types of trees Duke is targeting for Cambistat treatment

We reported last week that Duke Energy will soon begin a pilot program to test the tree-growth regulator Cambistat on some local trees. (Full story here.)

The project will target specific types of trees that grow quickly. Rainbow Treecare will start tagging trees later after the April 17 community meeting.

Here are the kinds of trees that will be treated, according to Duke:

• Arborvitae

• Birch

• Elm Species

• Elm, American

• Locust, black

• Magnolia, Southern

• Maple, red

• Maple, silver

• Maple, Sugar

• Oak, black

• Oak, Laurel

• Oak, Live

• Oak, pin

• Oak, Red

• Oak, southern red

• Oak, water

• Oak, white

• Oak, Willow

• Pear, Callery (Bradford, etc.)

• Sweetgum

• Yellow-poplar (tuliptree)
