In January I had the privilege of seeing the Livestock Players Musical Theatre's production of ``The Sound of Music.' Frankly, I must admit, I probably would never have known about it if my granddaughter, Beth Eason, had not been the assistant stage manager. I think it was a superb production. I was hungry for a good show like this, since I didn't get to go to New York this past December. ``The Sound of Music' has been one of my all-time favorites and this production did nothing to disappoint me. I had the privilege of seeing Mary Martin in the Broadway production, and came away with some fond memories.
It makes me sad and extremely disappointed to realize how Durham has ``fumbled the ball' with its own Carolina Theater, which stands closed and rotting. Congratulations to Greensboro for its delightful Carolina Theater.\ Floyd Rhodes Jr.\ Durham
