Workers at East Coast Leasing's Greensboro plant will vote next month on whether to join Teamsters Local 391, a union official said Wednesday.
About 50 drivers at East Coast's Greensboro facility will vote July 10-11, R.W. Brown said. About 30 other employees will vote in plants in Indiana and Virginia. The Greensboro drivers haul mail from the U.S. bulk mail center on West Wendover Avenue to other centers across the country, he said.
Workers have criticized company officials for cutting hours and for not recognizing seniority, Brown said, adding that dissatisfaction over those issues led to the attempt to organize.
Officials at East Coast Leasing would not discuss the election or complaints.
The results of the election will be tallied July 19 at the National Labor Relations Board office in Winston-Salem, Brown said.
