One hundred years ago, the News & Record was called The Daily Record, and the top story of the day was an advertisement.
Since then, the newspaper and Greensboro, Guilford County and the Piedmont have grown up together. On Sunday, Part II of the News & Record's centennial edition will be published, examining the role that religion, colleges, the arts and sports have played in shaping the area.
The issue is the second-largest published - Part I was the first. It contains 88 pages, bringing the total centennial pages to 188. The centennial-edition portion of the newspaper will be delivered late tonight. Carrier delivery for the rest of the newspaper will be on the usual schedule and should be complete by 8 a.m. Sunday.
