Ellyn Hamilton Clifford and Daniel Wilbert Koenig have been selected as the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department's Youths of the Month for April. They will attend the city council meeting at 7 p.m. Monday. The Summit Rotary Club will recognize them April 13.Clifford is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Locke Turner Clifford of 1106 Sunset Drive. She is a student at Page High School, where she is president of National Honor Society and a member of the A Honor Roll.
She is secretary / treasurer of the senior class and was secretary / treasurer of the junior class in 1988-89. She is chairman of the Student / Faculty Committee and a member of the Student Affairs Committee. She is news editor of ``Pages By Page,' vice president of the Key Club, Keywanettes sergeant at arms and program vice president of the International Club.
She received the Kimberly Phillips Memorial Award in 1988, presented to a sophomore girl at Page for friendliness and most school spirit. She participated in a European study tour through the Presidential Classroom International Student Leadership Program in 1988-89.
Clifford is captain of the Page girls tennis team. She was a member of the Under 16 N.C. Olympic Development Girls Soccer Team in 1987-88, played for the Peaches N Cream Girls Classic Soccer Team in 1986 through 1989 and the Greensboro Patriots Girls Classic Soccer Team in 1989-90. She was selected for the 1988-89 All Conference Girls Soccer Team and was honorable mention All Region Girls Soccer Team. In 1988-89, she was named an N.C. High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete in girls soccer, girls tennis and winter track.
She serves as Page representative to the Greensboro Youth Leadership Association and attended Anytown USA '89. She is active in Young Life and is a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church.
Koenig, son of Dan and Carolyn Koenig of 2807 Darden Road, is a student at Smith High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Phi German Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. He was a nominee for the Morehead Scholarship.
Koenig attended Governor's School West and was chief junior marshal. He is a member of the German Club and the Junior Classical League.
He has been a member of the school orchestra for four years, participated in the N.C. All-State Orchestra for three years and has been a member of the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra for six years.
He is captain of the school tennis team, was a member of the All-Conference Tennis Team for the past three years and was regional doubles tennis champion and state doubles semifinalist in 1989.
He is co-captain of the school soccer team and was named to the All-Conference Soccer Team for two years. He received the N.C. High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Award in 1989.
Koenig is vice president of the Embenezer Lutheran Church Youth Group and is head acolyte. He is a representative to the Student Service Board Action Group.
