NORFOLK, Va. - Larry Stewart had 27 points and 16 rebounds as top-seeded and defending champion Coppin State beat Bethune-Cookman 92-67 in the last quarterfinal game.The Eagles (19-9) also got 26 points from Reggie Isaac and 17 from James Mazyck.
Ninth-seeded Bethune-Cookman (5-24), which during the regular season lost to Coppin State by scores of 109-43 and 110-83, once again had problems from the start as Coppin State built a 15-point advantage.
The Eagles made 16 of 28 shots from the field in the second half while holding Bethune-Cookman to 17 of 43 shooting.
The Wildcats were led by Cliff Reed's 18 points. Reginald Cunningham added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Joe Parham had 15 points.
