DANCE COURSE OFFERED BY CIVIC BALLET

The Civic Ballet Theatre of Greensboro will offer Summerdance '90, its intensive two-week dance course, June 4 through 15 at its studios in the Old Greensborough Gateway Center, 620 S. Elm St. Participants are asked to register by May 14.

Designed for students nine and older, the program offers study with CBT faculty members as well as special guest teachers. Among the guest instructors will be Tatiana Dokoudovska, a veteran of the Ballet Russe and American Ballet Theatre, who also helped found the State Ballet of Missouri. She is known to her students as ``Miss Tania.' Among her former pupils are many dancers with a number of professional ensembles.The four-level CBT program offers technique classes in ballet, modern and/or character dance for intermediate, advanced and pre-professional students. Upper-level students also receive pointe classes.

The Summerdance '90 curriculum includes: Level I (suggested ages, 9 and 10), ballet, character and vocabulary/video studies; Level II (suggested ages, 11 and 12), ballet, character/modern, beginning pointe or pre-pointe, and vocabulary/video studies.

Also, Level III (suggested ages, 13 and 14), ballet, character/modern, pointe, variations; and Level IV (suggested for ages 15 and older), ballet, modern, pointe, variations and/or repertoire.

Tuition is $150 for the first-level classes, $175 for the second and $200 for the third and fourth levels.
