DEPUTY CHARGED WITH RAPE

A sheriff's deputy has been charged with sexually assaulting three women in his patrol car after stopping them on various ruses and threatening them with jail.

Deputy Lloyd Shoemaker, 33, who was assigned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's suburban Temple City station, is scheduled to surrender today in Los Angeles Municipal Court, where he is scheduled to be arraigned on charges of rape, lewd conduct and two other felonies.Shoemaker could face 24 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors said they will seek a $30,000 bail.
