On the last day of Haw River Adventure Camp on Friday campers got to make their way on a hike using a compass to guide them. But if that wasn't challenging enough they did while carrying an egg they were trying not to break.

The camp for middle schoolers was a mix of environmental education and STEM, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Throughout the week campers studied wetland ecology along a creek and prescribed burning where they learned how fire is important to natural ecosystems to use a fire line. They were even able to practice creating a fire line like firemen use to control forest fires. Of course there were fun activities too like swimming, snacks and games.
