The Greensboro News & Record corrects errors in its news columns that come to its attention. It also publishes in this space appropriate clarifications.

Based on erroneous information given to the News & Record, the newspaper incorrectly reported Wednesday the name of the operator of the Clapp, Gates & Co. foundry and the number of rifles it produced. The foundry was operated by Jacob Clapp and Charles Carol Gates and produced about 2,500 rifles for the state.The winner of the 1990 Sun Belt Conference basketball tournament was misidentified Wednesday. The University of South Florida won.
