GGO notes: Lanny Wadkins, a former Wake Forest standout, is off to a hot start in 1991. The 40-year-old currently leads the money list with $284,400 after winning and finishing second in his first two starts. Love, who played collegiately at North Carolina, is coming off his best season ever after winning more than $500,000. Funk formerly coached golf at the University of Maryland. Sluman, who won the 1988 PGA Championship, finished tied for second in last year's GGO. Verplank has won twice on the PGA Tour, including the 1985 Western Open as an amateur. Bobby Wadkins has won nearly $2 million in 16 years on tour without recording a victory.\

When: The GGO will be played April 25-28. Pro-ams are scheduled for April 22nd and 24th.\

Where: Forest Oaks Country Club.\

Defending champion: Steve Elkington.\

How much: The purse is $1.25 million. A $225,000 share goes to the winner.
