A musical program highlighting the Greensboro Opera Co.'s upcoming production of Gounod's ``Faust' will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at Rockingham Community College.
The free program, scheduled in the auditorium of RCC's Technical Laboratories Building, will feature maestro Peter Paul Fuchs, artistic director and conductor of the Greensboro Opera Co., and Florian Keller, assistant conductor for the production.The opera company is celebrating its 10th anniversary with performances of ``Faust' at 8 p.m. Nov. 2 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at Greensboro's War Memorial Auditorium, Coliseum Complex.
The full-scale production will feature internationally recognized singers as well as local performers. It will be sung in French with English supertitles. The Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Fuchs, will present the music.
Composed in 1859 and set in Germany, ``Faust' is the classic tale of a philosopher who sells his soul to the devil in return for youth and the love of a beautiful woman.
Supertitles will be projected on a screen above the stage.
Tickets for the November performances of ``Faust' are on sale at the Greensboro Opera Co. office, 1828 Banking St., Greensboro. The office is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and tickets may be purchased over the telephone with a credit card.
