Greensboro will host the 1993 National Jaycee Convention, which could mean $6 to $9 million for the local economy, according to Greensboro Jaycee estimates.
National Jaycee executives in Tulsa, Okla., Sunday chose the Gate City over Boston to host the convention, which will be held June 14-17 at the Greensboro Coliseum.``The U.S. Jaycees think we can put together a class act,' said Mac Sims, a Greensboro Jaycee member, who was part of the local group that met with national executives. Sims estimated that 5,000 members of the 240,000-member organization would come to Greensboro.
Greensboro Jaycee president Mary Schott said Greensboro was attractive to the selection committee because of its convenience and the accessibility of accommodations in the area. Holiday Inn Four Seasons has been chosen as the hotel site for the conference.
