Several Greensboro players fared well in last weekend's Southern Senior Women's Indoor Tennis Tournament. Held at the indoor tennis pavilion at Barber Park, the tournament attracted 61 players from the nine states in the Southern Tennis Association. Sharron Frahm defeated Tina Klaus in the women's 40s singles competition. Both are from Greenboro. Klaus (seen at right), topped Jo Phillips of Lawrenceville, Ga., in the semifinals. Phillips is ranked No. 1 in the Southern region in women's 40s. But it was Frahm who upended Klaus 6-3, 6-2 in the 40s finals. Greensboro's Julia Ann Holt and Barbara Spencer defeated in-town rivals Pat Cox and Rachel Gentry 6-2, 6-4 in the women's 50s doubles. Helen Sizemore of Greensboro and Martha Norman of Asheboro were runners-up in the 60s doubles.
