JAMES JOHNSON

MADISON-James Pope Johnson, 91, of Route 2 died Wednesday at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Center in Clemmons.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.A Rockingham County native, he was a self-employed furniture craftsman and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Bessie B. Johnson; daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth J. Reid of Clemmons, Mrs. Ann J. Willson of Raleigh, Mrs. Ruth J. Haggerty of Greenville, S.C.; brother, Homer Johnson of Parker, Ariz.; sister, Miss Alice Johnson of Madison; six grandchildren.

The family will be at the home on Dan Valley Road 6-9 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Madison Library Building Fund, 140 E. Murphy St., Madison, N.C. 27025.

ALFORD KIVETT

RAMSEUR - Alford ``A.J.' Jackson Kivett Jr., 70, of Woodbridge, Va., formerly of Ramseur, died Wednesday in Woodbridge.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Quantico National Cemetery Chapel in Quantico, Va. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery.

Surviving are brothers, Taft Kivett, Lawrence Kivett, both of Ramseur; sisters, Thyra Marley, Shirley Jonmes, both of Ramseur.

Cunningham and Mount Castle Funeral Home in Woodbridge is in charge of arrangements.

BOYD MATTHEWS SR.

YANCEYVILLE - Boyd Elmo Matthews Sr., 78, of Route 1, Blanch, died Wednesday at his home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Blanch Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are wife, Mae S. Matthews; son, Boyd E. Mathhews Jr. of Ringgold, Va.; daughter, Cora Walters of Blanch; sisters, Odell Gaye of Fuquay-Varina, Beatrice Watson of Sanford, Elizabeth Stephens of Blanch, Alice Evans of South Boston, Va.; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Hooper Funeral Home 7-8:30 p.m. today.

BURLINGTON - Paul Eugene Morrow Jr., 74, of 455 Parkview Drive died Wednesday at his home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

An Alamance County native, he was a retired employee of C.V. Sellers Art Store and an elder and clerk of session at his church.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Nancy G. Morrow; brother, D. Carter Morrow of Chapel Hill.

The family will be at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, 508 W. Davis St., Burlington, N.C. 27215.

MORTON FUNERAL

TROY - Funeral for Mrs. Bessie Burns Morton of Route 1, who died Tuesday, will be at 1 p.m. today at Uwharrie United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A Randolph County native, she was a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Thomas Morton of Asheboro, Dewey E. Morton of Greensboro; daughters, Mrs. Marie Edwards of Shelby, Mrs. Beatrice Hammet of Whitsett; eight grandchildren.

Pugh-Troy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

THOMAS NANCE

THOMASVILLE - Thomas Hall Nance, 60, of 809 Dogwood Road died Wednesday at his home.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holly Hill Memorial Park.

A Randolph County native, he was a retired employee of Burlington Industries.

Surviving are brothers, John H. Nance Jr., Charlie O. Nance, both of Thomasville.

The family will be at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today, other times at the residence.

MRS. AGNES OWEN

SALISBURY - Mrs. Agnes Buchanan Owen, 61, of 312 W. Miller St. died Wednesday at Rowan Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at North Main Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park.

An Avery County native, she was a graduate of the Rowan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and a retired employee of the hospital.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Myra Nail of Charlotte; brother, Bill Buchanan of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Mrs. Ora Buchanan of Newland, Mrs. June Isaacs of Crossnore; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Summersett Funeral Home 7-8:30 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Main Baptist Church, 1501 N. Main St., Salisbury, N.C. 28144.

ALVIN PRITCHARD

ASHEBORO - Alvin Clinton Pritchard, 69, of Johnson City, Tenn., died Tuesday in Johnson City.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery.

A Virginia native, he was a veteran and a furniture manufacturing assembler.

Surviving are sons, Gary Pritchard, Larry Pritchard, both of Asheboro; sister, Mrs. Juanita Ross of Rogersville, Tenn.; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. today.
