HIGH POINT CONSIDERING TWO-YEAR COUNCIL TERMS

The High Point City Council is considering changing the terms for council members from four-year staggered terms to two-year terms.

Thursday, the High Point Chamber of Commerce invites the public to a forum on that topic. The forum will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Roy B. Culler Senior Center, 600 N. Hamilton St. Refreshments will be served at 5 p.m.The forum is free.

Speakers will include Vagn Hansen, cq professor of political science at High Point University; Flemming Bell of the Institute of Government in Chapel Hill; and, George Gilbert, director of Guilford County's Board of Elections.
