Hyundai Furniture Industries of High Point announced Thursday that it will relocate to a new 100,000-square-foot building by January.

The company is constructing the new warehouse, distribution and corporate office building on Triangle Lake Road, near the corner of Baker Road and Business 85. The cost of the project was not disclosed. The new building will more than double the assembly and warehouse capacity Hyundai has at its present location on Fraley Road. The construction was warranted by the increasing demand for Hyundai's products on the East Coast, Hyundai President Kevin O'Connor said.

As a result of that increasing business, Hyundai's employment of about 50 workers in High Point may grow to 70 or 80 by early 1991, O'Connor said. In the longer term, Hyundai also has room at the Triangle Lake Road site for additional expansion, he said.

Hyundai Furniture Industries is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Wood Industries of Seoul, South Korea. The company assembles and markets imported wood dining room and occasional furniture in the mid-price range. In addition to High Point, it has regional warehouses in Los Angeles and Dallas.
