JAZZ ENSEMBLES TUNE UP FOR FREE SPRING CONCERT

The Jazz Ensembles of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro will present a free spring concert at 2 p.m. April 13 in Aycock Auditorium.

Jazz Ensemble II, directed by graduate student Michael Mallory of Central Square, N.Y., will perform five works including ``Satin Doll' by Duke Ellington, ``La Fiesta' by Chick Corea and ``Uncle Heavy's Porkchop Review' by Keith Foley.Jazz Ensemble I will present the program it performed at Carnegie Hall March 25 during the Count Basie Jazz Festival.

Works will include George Gershwin's ``I Got Rhythm,' Bob Mintzer's ``One Man Band,' Sammy Nestico's ``Wind Machine,' Charles Argersinger's ``Mandala' and ``ABC Blues' by Bob Brookmeyer. The ensemble is directed by Craig Whittaker, an assistant professor of music at UNCG.
