WINSTON-SALEM - Michael McDade kicked a 42-yard field goal that barely cleared the crossbar with 13 seconds left to lift Knoxville to a 29-27 victory over Winston-Salem State Saturday.Ronnie Jackson, who passed for 200 yards and two touchdowns, set up the field goal with a 24-yard pass to Michael House. McDade's kick bounced on the crossbar.
Knoxville led 26-24 at the start of the fourth quarter, but Winston-Salem State's Dino Belligrinis kicked a field goal to make it 27-26 with 14:17 left.
Jackson, 11-of-29, connected twice with House to score, once with a 23-yard pass in the first quarter and again with a 32-yarder in the third.
Rodney McKoy led all rushers with 145 yards and scored a touchdown on a 63-yard run for Winston-Salem State.
