District 31-D of Lions Clubs International will hold its mid-winter convention Friday and Saturday in the Airport Marriott Hotel. Ernest Rizek, a member of the board of directors of Lions Clubs International, will be the guest speaker at the District Governor's Banquet Saturday. Rizek is the manager of a stock brokerage firm in Tucson.
District Governor Raleigh D. Ellis Jr. of Greensboro will preside over the convention. The convention chairman is M. John Marko of Greensboro, past district governor.Lions Clubs International is the largest service club in the world with more than 1.3 million members in more than 39,000 clubs in 166 countries and geographic regions. District 31-D has 1,800 members in 53 clubs in its area, which includes Guilford, Forsyth, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes Surry, Yadkin and Davie counties.
