GREENSBORO — A Greensboro police officer and another driver were hospitalized after a traffic collision in downtown Greensboro tonight.

A Greensboro officer was northbound on South Eugene Street at 9:54 p.m. when his police cruiser collided with an eastbound Lexus on West Market Street.

Police spokeswoman Susan Danielsen identified the officer as D.A. Allis.

The 24-year-old driver of the Lexus was from Clayton, Danielsen said.

The police department is still investigating which car had the green light.

The intersection of West Market and South Eugene streets remains closed as police conduct an investigation into the crash.

Ambulances took both drivers to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment to injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
