HIGH POINT — A sinkhole has opened on Lexington Avenue in High Point, forcing officials to close the road.

The street is closed to through traffic between Centennial Street and College Drive, but is expected to reopen sometime this weekend, said Jeron Hollis, communications director for the city of High Point.

Hollis said crews are currently working to repair the damage, but he did not know the size of the hole.
