HIGH POINT — Police said a 5-year-old boy was mauled this afternoon by at least one pit bull.
Officers were called at 12:30 p.m. to assist EMS at 915 Newell St., said Lt. C.R. Johnson Jr. Officers reported that a 5-year-old boy, who was visiting from out of state, was mauled by one or two pit bulls inside the house.
The boy suffered major cuts to his left ear, face and neck, as well as fractures to his face. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Johnson said officials didn't know whether one or both dogs at the house mauled the boy, so both are being quarantined at the Guilford County Animal Shelter.
The incident is still under investigation.
The boy's condition was not available Saturday.
