Dr. Charles Allen Fountain of 211 North Dudley St., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at his residence.The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Providence Baptist Church, 1106 Tuscaloosa St.

Dr. Fountain was Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture and was father of the Landscape Architecture Program at N.C. A&T State University. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University and a master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Berkley.

While at N.C. A&T, he was elected to the highest and most honored positions of leadership by his colleagues. He was also given a special recognition award for outstanding contributions and dedication to the profession of landscape architecture. This fall, the A&T School of Agriculture and Environmental and Allied Sciences will induct him into the Aggie Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fannie L. Fountain; sister, Doris Elizabeth Moore of Richmond, Va.; nephews, James Arthur Fountain of Newport News, Va., and Cecil and Tony Fountain, both of Richmond, Va.; sister-in-law, Gail L. Holmes of Bloomfield, Conn.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Dr. Charles A. Fountain Memorial Scholarship Fund, N.C. A&T State University Foundation, 1601 East Market St., Greensboro, N.C. 27411.

Community Funeral Service is in charge of funeral arrangements.
