MADISON - Jessie Paul Roberts, 81, died Thursday at Stokes-Reynolds Hospital in Danbury.Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Rockingham County, he was a tobacco farmer and a retired employee of Gem Dandy Inc.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Edna Lindsay Roberts; daughter, Mrs. Emily White of Madison; son, Charles Roberts of Madison; sister, Mrs. Sallie Gillespie of Baltimore; brothers, Delma Roberts of Madison, Russell Roberts of Reidsville; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Colonial Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today.


EDEN - Rueben Scott Roberts, 58, of 1303 Maryland Ave. died Thursday at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fair Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dan View Cemetery.

A native of Reidsville, he was the former owner and operator of a service station in Eden, a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church of Oregon Hill and a charter member of the Tri-City Rescue Squad.

Surviving are wife, Nora Minter Roberts; daughters, Robin Ferguson of Butner, Tammy Roberts of Greensboro; son, Scott Roberts of Eden.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. today.


CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Alice Mae Sharp, 90, of 1139 Marietta St. died Thursday at her home.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Randleman and a retired seamstress.

There are no immediate survivors.

The family will be at Hankins, Whittington & Williams-Dearborn Funeral Home 7-8 p.m. today.

PINEHURST - B. Frank Smith, 89, died Thursday at UNC Hospitals.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Galatia Presbyterian Church cemetery.

He was a retired plumbing contractor.

Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Gay S. Bowman of Pinehurst, Mrs. Pat S. Ulatowski of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Teena S. Little of Southern Pines; sons, John Lindsay Smith of Lake Waccamaw, J. Roy Smith of Pinehurst; sisters, Lessie Ray of Raeford, Mrs. Pearl Bass of Vass; brothers, Watson Smith of Durham, Robert Smith of Louisiana; 17 grandchildren.

The family will be at Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines 7-9 p.m. today.

STONEVILLE - Funeral for Mrs. Ardelia D. Stanfield, 67, of Route 3, who died Tuesday, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Stoneville Memorial Cemetery.

The family will be at Perry and Spencer Funeral Home 7-8 p.m. today.
