Kathryn Hughes has joined the sales staff of High Point radio station WWWB (100.3 FM) as marketing consultant.
Hughes, who was previously with the advertising department at WMFR (1230 AM), ran her own small agency for the last three years. She and her husband, Ron, are alumni of High Point College.State Rep. Joe H. Hege Jr. of Lexington has been appointed by Gov. Jim Martin to the newly created Governor's Advisory Council on Literacy. He will serve until May 31, 1991.
The council will develop and deliver to the governor a long-range plan to expand literacy education efforts in the workplace as well as service recommendations for state literacy programs and resources.
Judy Cranford has joined the staff of WWWB as marketing consultant. Formerly with WKSI, Cranford has 11 years experience in radio and television broadcasting. She has received two distinguished sales awards.
For the second year in a row, Don Byerly of Salisbury has been named Outstanding Salesman for Piedmont Mill Supply Co.
The company, which distributes industrial tools, rubber products and power transmission products, has warehouses in Salisbury, Statesville and High Point.
Charles A. ``Chuck' Ramsey II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Ramsey of High Point, served as a governor's page the week of Jan. 16.
