The tournament on the Links at Key Biscayne is the first full-field event of the Senior Tour season.

Player, seeking his 16th senior victory, made consecutive birdies at Nos. 13, 14 and 15. The last one came on a 35-foot putt. He played the final 11 holes in 6-under par.

Tom Shaw also had a 65 and was at 6-under, tied with Crampton, Trevino, Bob Charles and Senior Tour rookie Simon Hobday. He shot his second consecutive 68 despite a double bogey at the par-4 11th hole.

Trevino, who struggled to a 70 in the opening round, birdied four of the first six holes on his way to a 66.

Trevino trailed by 5 shots with three holes left last year, but he won when leader Jim Dent played the final three holes in 4-over.

``That's not going to happen again,' Trevino said with a chuckle. ``That was a gift.'
