S.C. MALL, NAACP SIGN PACT

A shopping mall pledged to hire more blacks and stop its practice of detaining black teenagers under a 1960s trespass law in an agreement with the NAACP, officials said Monday.

The chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, William F. Gibson of Greenville, said the pact with Columbia Mall is the first of its kind.
