SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY CAN EASE PEER PRESSURE

SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY CAN EASE PEER PRESSURE

School uniforms are, of course, not the answer to the problems that face our schools, but I feel they are a good start.

My kids recently attended school in Mexico, where all schools, public and private, require uniforms. My children, ages 11, 9, and 7, all agreed that the uniforms made them all equal. I think they also help the students' morale to see that they are 'unified.'Uniforms even can be as simple as blue jeans and a polo shirt with the school logo.

Kids feel pressured to dress like everyone else, and those who do not, unfortunately, can be made fun of. I feel uniforms would be a way to start reducing the problems in schools. I would hope that Guilford County would take this into consideration.

It needs to start somewhere.\ Anne Page\ Greensboro
