Oak Ridge Military Academy and Westchester Academy graduated 71 students in separate commencement ceremonies Saturday morning.
Oak Ridge Military Academy awarded diplomas to 36 graduates in a ceremony on campus.Valedictorian Della Hawes of Oak Ridge has been accepted at N.C. State and UNCG, but has not decided which school she will attend. Salutatorian Justin Patel of Boone has been accepted at State and Elon University. He, too, is undecided.
The commencement speaker was Dr. William Atkinson II, a 1973 Oak Ridge graduate and president and chief executive officer of New Hanover Health Network in Wilmington.
Maj. Gen. John Admire is the school's president.
High Point's Westchester Academy gave diplomas to 35 seniors, its largest graduating class. The ceremony was held at Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville.
Valedictorian Conor Mooney of Advance will attend Davidson College in the fall. Mooney was awarded the Westchester Cup, which goes to an Upper School student who shows strong character and high morals.
Salutatorian Kimberly Hunter of Lexington will attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Chad Habeeb of Salisbury, who also will attend UNC-CH, was named Outstanding Senior.
Peter Cowan is the school's headmaster.
