Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a man charged with vehicular homicide in his 3-year-old daughter's death because she wasn't in a seat restraint.
A defense lawyer said 30-year-old Ramiro de Jesus Rodriguez was singled out for prosecution to teach other parents a lesson. A prosecutor said Rodriguez's driving was to blame for the fatal accident.Both sides said they believe the trial is the first in the United States for a parent held legally responsible for failing to restrain a child killed in an auto accident.
