Martin Luther King Street, it is.

By a 4-2 vote, the city's Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved a request to rename a street winding through a predominantly working-class black neighborhood in north Siler City after the slain civil rights leader.Commissioners Alexander Graves, Robert Siler, Syd Farrar and Charles Turner voted for the request. Commissioners William Collins and Adam Smith voted against the request.

``This is one of the better things to happen in Siler City, and the whole community is pleased because they wanted something here to remember Dr. King,' said Albert McClain, president of the local NAACP chapter who sponsored the request.
