Greensboro tied a 1984 record low temperature Tuesday morning with a reading of 45 degrees about 6:30 a.m. The record for today, also set in 1984, is 41 degrees. But lows today are expected to reach only the upper 40s.

Raleigh also broke its record-low temperature Tuesday with a reading of 46 degrees. The cold weather will last temporarily, as temperatures are expected to rise to the 80s by the weekend with lows in the 60s for most of the state, according to National Weather Service officials in Greensboro.
