Why is it that a metropolitan area airport serving 1 million people has such poor taxi service?
I know of no other airport serving a population of this size that does not have curbside taxi service waiting at baggage claim. It is easy enough to schedule cabs so that a sufficient number are waiting for each arriving flight. If the Triad cities want to become a legitimate business and convention center for the next millennium they need to upgrade the first impression that our business travelers and convention attendees receive.
Once a visitor has spent a few minutes searching out and locating the taxi stand location they then have to wait 10 to 20 minutes for a stinky, beat-up taxi. The cab will smell like an ashtray and its trunk will be so full of garbage and old oil cans they will not want to put their luggage into it.
Why is the airport served in such a disgusting manner?\ Rick Debenham\ High Point
