TWAY WINS IN PLAYOFF

Bob Tway rolled in a 15-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to defeat Curtis Strange and win the Westinghouse-Family House Invitational Golf Tournament on Tuesday.

Strange, four shots back of first-round leader Tway, shot a 69 while Tway ended at 73.Tway drove into the fairway bunker on the first extra hole but was able to put his approach 15 feet short of the cup.

Strange's approach shot faded into a bunker, and Tway made the putt to win the $140,000 first prize from the $700,000 purse. It was the third time in nine years the exhibition event had been decided by a playoff.
