UNCG SOPHOMORE IS WINNER IN REGIONAL VOCAL COMPETITION

John R. Fulton III of Charlotte, a sophomore at UNCG, received first place in the Southeastern regional of the Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition. The regional competition was held this spring in Nashville.

The competition is sponsored by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs. Fulton was sponsored by the Greensboro chapter of the organization.In August, he will represent the Southeast District at the national competition in New York City. The winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Fulton is the son of John R. Fulton Jr. and Priscilla E. Bridges.

Dakota Stevens, 27, was found unresponsive but breathing inside a holding cell about 4:15 p.m. on Monday, the Guilford County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Detention and medical staff started life-saving measures and EMS arrived about 4:25 p.m. to take Stevens to High Point Medical Center.
