Authorities are investigating cases of vandalism of school buses in Guilford and Rockingham counties that may be related.

Eight to 10 windshields were broken sometime Friday night or early Saturday on buses parked at Stokesdale Elementary and Oak Ridge Elementary in Guilford County, officials said. Some buses also were spray painted.Don Michaux, assistant director of transportation for the Guilford County schools, estimated damages at $600 to $800.

Rockingham County also reported that about 30 bus windshields had been broken and some buses spray-painted the same color as the buses in Guilford County.

Additional information was not available, and attempts to reach Jim Scott, director of transportation for the Rockingham County schools, was unsuccessful.
