SEATTLE - Mark Brunell outplayed Southern Cal's highly re- garded Todd Marinovich, Greg Lewis ran for 126 yards and Eric Briscoe intercepted two passes in No. 21 Washington's 31-0 thumping of the fifth-ranked Trojans in a Pacific-10 Conference opener on Saturday.Washington (3-0) led 24-0 at halftime and wasn't threatened in handing Southern California (2-1) its first shutout loss since Arizona State beat the Huskies 24-0 in 1985. That is also the last year that Washington beat USC.

Brunell, a sophomore starting his third game for the Huskies, completed 12 of 23 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown, with one interception. Brunell also ran for 38 yards on eight carries.
