WATCH FOR ANIMALS

WATCH FOR ANIMALS

While bicycling through Greensboro on different occasions, I noticed a large number of animals hit by cars. I know that some of these animals were hit intentionally, but the majority, I hope, were hit by accident.

In a half-mile strip of Oak Ridge Road, I rode past a dead ground hog, cat, rabbit, squirrel and snake. On Dolley Madison Road there have been two raccoons and numerous squirrels and opossums hit by cars. On Westridge Road, it would be hard to count the number of rabbits, opossums, birds and raccoons that have been hit.The numbers are alarming. We all should do our best to be more alert to animals crossing our city streets. Remember, the animals are not moving closer to the city; we are building and pushing them out of their natural habitat. Christopher Sullivan Greensboro
