WFMY-TV (Channel 2) will honor 10 ``unsung heroes' in the third annual ``2 Those Who Care' Piedmont Awards Ceremony at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Stouffer Winston Plaza Hotel. The ceremony will be broadcast live.

The recipients were selected by a board of governors from hundreds of volunteers nominated in the 28-county area served by Channel 2. They were chosen for devoting their time and talents to help enrich the lives of others.This year's recipients are:

Gene Bumgarner, Asheboro, for coordinating volunteer services for Hospice of Randolph.

Whit East, Winston-Salem, for developing a water therapy program for the handicapped.

Lori Ellis, Greensboro, for giving special attention to handicapped children.

Neill Key, Graham, for spending numerous hours designing and building wheelchair ramps for the handicapped and elderly.

Francis Lambeth, Brown Summit, for spending many hours visiting shut-ins and taking people to medical appointments.

Margaret McNairy, Greensboro, for buying Bibles for disadvantaged people and combing hair for women at a nursing home.

Sonnie Simpson, Greensboro, a founding member of Crisis Control in Greensboro, for donating time for administrative purposes and answering the telephones.

T.O. Stokes Jr., Greensboro, for spending time with the homeless.

Collene Sudderth, Oak Ridge, for using her lunch hour to do good deeds for others and for befriending the homeless and disadvantaged.

Evelyn Taylor, Greensboro, for helping organize the Residents Against Drugs program, which is concerned with the drug problem in public housing.

Each recipient will be given a statuette and a $500 check for the charity of his choice.

Proceeds from the awards ceremony will go to the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, a statewide agency that provides services in problem pregnancy counseling, adoptive placement of infants and children, and post-legal adoption counseling services.
