WINTER ARTS FESTIVAL STARTS WITH FRIDAY GALA

The Winter Arts Festival of the Pilot Club of Winston-Salem will open with a $25-a-ticket gala Friday in the Sawtooth Building, 226 N. Marshall St., in Winston-Salem. Bulletin Board\ The 7-9 p.m. program will include a silent art auction to benefit Pilot Club civic projects. The art show, which includes works by artists from five states, will be on view Saturday and Sunday.

Mark Russell encore\ Political comedian Mark Russell, who played to a full house Feb. 8 in Aycock Auditorium, will return to the Triad for an 8 p.m. performance March 22 in Wait Chapel at Wake Forest University.

Tickets are $20. For information, call 759-4869 between 1 and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

'Amen' at A&T\ The Alabama State Repertory Company will stage James Baldwin's ``The Amen Corner' at 7:30 p.m. Friday at N.C. A&T State University.The play will be presented in Richard B. Harrison Auditorium on campus.

This benefit program for the Student Emergency Fund is being sponsored by the A&T Division of Development and University Relations. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for children under 12.
