Dusty Hoffman is 12 years old and has this dream. He wants to play for the Cincinnati Reds. Play the organ, that is.

For now, he's playing the organ at the home games of the Rapid City (S.D.) Thrillers of the Continental Basketball Association.``He may not be the best, but he's definitely the most excited,' said Dusty's mother, Emily Hoffman.

The young organist said he kept a special song in his repertoire for the Wednesday night CBA playoff game between Rapid City and Wichita Falls (Texas).

``I saved the Batman theme for the playoffs,' he said.

The Thrillers started looking for a new organist in January, after former organ player, Sue Lein, moved. Marketing director Len Weimer asked workers at Plummer Piano if they knew of any players who wanted the gig.

Dusty, a player since age 7, once mentioned offhandedly to one of his teachers that he'd like to play the organ for the Thrillers.

He auditioned, and although team officials were a little concerned about his age, they gave him the job because they wanted someone who would stick around.

Dusty Hoffman had only played piano, never an organ, so Plummer Piano sent an organ just like the one in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center to his home, and Hoffman has been honing his skills since.
