Greensboro’s The Shoe Market staff wholeheartedly believe that great footwear is only part of the story — true comfort begins with understanding your feet. This April, in honor of National Foot Health Awareness Month, The Shoe Market is partnering with Triad Foot & Ankle Center to bring a comprehensive Foot Health Education series and complimentary one-on-one consultations with trusted podiatrists directly into the store.
Throughout the month, The Shoe Market will transform into a hub for education, prevention and personalized care. Free lectures will cover a wide range of topics — from understanding the impact of diabetes on foot health to learning how orthotics support the entire body.
“We’ve always said that the right shoe can change your day,” said Perry Calhoun, manager at The Shoe Market. “But when you pair the right shoe with expert medical insight, you can truly change someone’s quality of life. That’s what makes this partnership so special.”

The lecture series, hosted weekly at The Shoe Market, features podiatrists from Triad Foot & Ankle Center covering subjects that matter to everyday life: heel pain, bunions, preventive care and more. These practical, approachable discussions are designed to help people stay active, mobile and pain-free.
Triad Foot & Ankle Center will be offering complimentary foot health consultations on select Saturdays. These one-on-one sessions provide an opportunity for customers to speak directly with a specialist about their concerns — whether it’s chronic pain, early warning signs or simply a desire to be proactive about long-term health. Consultations will be by appointment only and can be made by calling The Shoe Market.
“For many people, foot pain becomes something they just live with,” Calhoun said. “We want to change that mindset. Pain isn’t normal, and it’s not something you have to accept. By bringing podiatrists into the store, we’re making it easier for people to take that first step toward feeling better.”
This collaboration brings together two complementary areas of expertise: clinical insight from Triad Foot & Ankle Center and decades of professional shoe fitting at The Shoe Market. Together, it creates a more complete approach to foot health, offering customers both education and personalized solutions in one place.
“We see this as an extension of what we’ve been doing for over 30 years,” said Calhoun. “Our team is trained to listen, to assess and to guide. Partnering with Triad Foot & Ankle allows us to take that a step further and provide medical insight alongside our fitting expertise. It’s a natural fit.”

At its core, National Foot Health Awareness Month is about helping people stay active and engaged in the lives they love, whether that means walking the neighborhood, traveling comfortably, or simply getting through the day without pain.
“This is about keeping people moving,” Calhoun said. “When your feet feel good, everything else follows. And if we can play a small part in that — by offering knowledge, support and the right solutions — then we’re doing exactly what we’re here to do.”
