This holiday season, select comfy, stylish shoes for yourself or to give as a gift, and do a good deed for your community at the same time. The Shoe Market is sponsoring Holiday Give Back to benefit two local organizations, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and SPCA of the Triad. You can participate by making a donation of any size.
Family owned for 30 years, The Shoe Market specializes in comfortable shoes that look and feel fantastic. With over 60,000 athletic, dress, work and casual shoes in-stock in the 30,000-square-foot space, store personnel can fit you with hard-to-find sizes — from women's size 5 to 13 and men's size 7 to 17 — in very narrow or ultra-wide widths.
Do your feet need some TLC? The Shoe Market focuses on shoes that may ease discomfort from plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, diabetes-related foot issues, or pain in the ball of the foot, as well as knee, hip or back issues that benefit from specific type of shoe.
Local efforts feed the hungry, protect animals
“This is the second year we’ve sponsored Holiday Give Back,” said Perry Calhoun, president of The Shoe Market. “We think it’s very important to give back to the community that keeps us in business. We want to take care of the people who take care of us.”
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC puts food on the table for people who need it, recovering food from grocers, farmers, food manufacturers and processors and distributing it to partner programs. SPCA of the Triad takes care of abused, neglected and injured animals, providing food and shelter, and matching pets with foster and forever homes.
“These are two organizations everyone can get behind, and all your donations stay local,” Calhoun said.
Give and receive
To participate in Holiday Give Back, come in to The Shoe Market between Nov. 13 and Dec. 12. You can simply donate, or add your donation to a credit card transaction and designate which of the two organizations you’d like to support — or both. You’ll receive a receipt for each donation. “We want to make it easy to give,” Calhoun said.
Every cent you contribute to Holiday Give Back provides you the with the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped to feed the hungry or take care of animals right in your own community. There’s an extra incentive to donate too, Calhoun said. Every day from Dec. 13 to 24, the store will raffle off a $50 gift certificate good for The Shoe Market merchandise. For every $2 you donate, you receive one raffle ticket, and for every $5 contribution, you receive three raffle tickets. With a drawing every day for 12 days, you could win more than once.
“The Holiday Give Back is a win-win, encouraging people to help others in the community with the possibility of a little bonus for their Christmas shopping,” Calhoun said.
Whether you’re looking for a cozy pair of Ugg boots, trendy Birkenstock clogs, comfortable athletic shoes from Hoka, On Running, Brooks or New Balance, or a gift certificate for that hard-to-buy-for member of the family, The Shoe Market is your one-stop shop.
