The Greensboro History Museum is offering up some un-living history and family fun from 12 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, October 24, at the museum, 130 Summit Ave., and neighboring LeBauer Park.
The family fun starts at noon as storyteller Cynthia Moore Brown shares a thrilling set of ghost stories on the LeBauer Park Price/Bryan Performance Pavilion Stage. Brown, who has published several volumes of spooky tales and appeared on TV and radio, has been enchanting audiences at the museum for more than three decades. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the fun. Then at 12:30 p.m., preschoolers, elementary school-age children and their families can enjoy craft activities with museum educators on the museum’s LeBauer Park Terrace.
From 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., visitors can stroll through the historic First Presbyterian Church Cemetery and encounter costumed interpreters portraying figures from Greensboro’s past. Learn the stories of Revolutionary War Major General Nathanael Greene, who commanded American troops at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse; NC A&T alumna and educator Florence A. Garrett; suffragist Gertrude Weil; and other figures from Greensboro’s history.
These activities take place in conjunction with the Greensboro Youth Council’s Ghoulash! Halloween Festival that will take place from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Center City and LeBauer parks.
